October 19th - Basic Manners for Dogs ($125) - Learn how to communicate with your dog in a way they understand. These classes are for basic commands. Learn how to train your dog to sit, stay, down, leave it, wait, heel, and walking on a leash. Learn about health and safety for your dog. Positive reinforcement techniques enhance your bond with your dog. Ideal for dogs any age over six months, these classes are one hour and last for five weeks. Training is conducted indoors. October 23rd - Advanced Digital Photography ($95) - The intermediate/advanced course will delve into aspects of action photography, recognizing and controlling light, and fine tuning composition. Beginning Digital Photography class is a prerequisite. Students need to bring their cameras to class, and will be asked to go on short hikes at the Technology Center. Must be willing to be photographed and photograph fellow students. Fall Break begins tomorrow, but today is filled with loads of activities all around campus. We have 8th grade tours, outdoor classroom visitors, students on field trips and in classrooms continuing to develop their skills. The Heavy Equipment class is out digging test holes for a new pond project near the PTC campus entrance. To all our students, keep going strong, enjoy your break, and we’ll see you again on Monday!

Mark your calendars! Free Flu Vaccine Drive Thru Clinic on Thursday, October 19th, 9AM-3PM at Pontotoc Technology Center, 601 West 33rd St. Ada. The Clinic is made possible by the Chickasaw Nation, and the Pontotoc County Health Department.

November 7th - Introduction to Sewing and Upholstery ($169) - Evening Course, Tuesdays and Thursdays 5:30-8:30pm. This basic course requires no experience and sewing machines are provided. All you need is a desire to learn. We'll cover the use of sewing machines, including threading and stitching, maintenance and operation, and more. You'll also learn about patterns and complete a small project during the course. October 23rd - Basic Hydraulics ($535) - This is a course designed for an introduction to Hydraulics. Items covered include Hydraulic Power Systems, Circuit Connections, Basic Hydraulic Circuits, Hydraulic Schematics, Principles of Hydraulic Pressure and Flow, Fluid Friction, Hydraulic Speed Control, Flow Control Valves, Pressure Control Circuits, Pressure Reducing Valves. October 16th - Drivers Education ($277) - Statistically, teen drivers are involved in a high percentage of car accidents. Because of that, first time drivers should get all the practice they can before they get behind the wheel. State required driver education and training can help make you a safer driver and make the roads of Oklahoma safer for all. State required driver education is 30 hours of in-class curriculum and 6 hours of behind the wheel driver training. The driving schedule will differ from the 5-7pm class schedule. On days students are scheduled to drive, they will be in the vehicle with the instructor and another student. Each student completes 30 minutes of driving per session until the six (6) hours are achieved. The class end date will be adjusted once the class enrollment has been finalized. October 4th - Excel Level I ($99) - Simplify your life by organizing your information and data by learning to use Excel spreadsheets and the features - formulas, functions, auto sum, sorting, and creating formulas. The Automotive shop is buzzing. All the bays are full as students work on projects ranging from alignment, tire balancing, replacing brakes, fuel pumps, and just about anything else you can imagine. One of our traveling teams is practicing for the upcoming competitive season.



September 30th - CDL Class B-Behind the Wheel - School Bus ($250) - This course will teach basic skills and mastery of basic maneuvers. You must show a proficiency in all of these skills to complete behind the wheel, Vehicle inspection, enroute, post trip, straight line backing, alley dock backing, off-set backing, parallel parking blind and sight side, vehicle controls, shifting, transmission, communications, signaling, visual search, speed and space management, safe driver behavior, Hours of service, hazard perception, railroad crossing, night operation, extreme driving conditions, skid control, baggage and cargo management, passenger safety awareness, passenger management, danger zones and use of mirrors, loading and unloading, emergency exit and evacuation, and special safety considerations.
