This is a two-year program designed to provide advanced science preparation for high school students planning on pursuing a college major in a science related field of study. Biotechnology is the physical manipulation of organisms at the molecular level to improve the quality of life. In this high school only program, students will learn foundational scientific knowledge, gain laboratory skills, and participate in authentic research. This college preparatory program develops competencies useful for medical, pharmaceutical, agricultural, and other science based areas of study.

Biotechnology careers begin with education. For some jobs a high school diploma or GED is enough to get started. Many technical positions require either a certificate, associates degree, or bachelors degree. Practical hands-on skills are required.
