Michael Beach
Began Teaching at PTC: Aug 2020
Outside of Work: I still run my own business, occasionally teach a night class at another tech center, I like to travel, camp, and explore the world when I have time off, though I am usually at the farm working on things that need to be fixed because I am mechanically inclined.
Education/Background: My education background can be described as, just like most other students. I was a C student in HS, I went to college on the GI Bill and got my associates in liberal studies. I continued to learn mechanical systems and eventually landed at Michelin in Ardmore where I worked in maintenance and honed my abilities in electrical and large mechanical systems. After that I went to school at MATC and received my certificate for residential HVACR. I worked and continued to learn about the industry which gave me the opportunity to get my contractors license and start my own business. I was called to teach at PTC and jumped at the opportunity to be able to share my knowledge with the future workers of Oklahoma.
Favorite Quote: “If you want something, you have to give up something”
Messages from Mr. Beach:
About teaching at PTC... "Teaching at PTC means that I can share with my students all the things that they will see in the industry, both good and bad. It's not just about learning the facts about HVACR but also learning the skill set that is needed to be successful in the field. The discipline needed to be able to work 12–16-hour days for the entire summer season, and beyond. Gaining the base knowledge to be able to solve the problems that come up in their day-to-day work environments and even gaining financial knowledge to run a successful business if they want."
To prospective students... "If your goal is to do anything in the mechanical or industrial field, this class is going to give you the knowledge you will need to be successful in the hundreds of opportunities you can have in your lifetime."
